We are pleased to inform you that the Actors` Equity Association has reached a preliminary agreement with the Broadway League for a new production contract. The National Council considered the proposed agreement at an extraordinary session on 19 September and recommended voting YES in the ratification vote. Mary McColl, Executive Director of Equity, said in a statement: “This agreement is an asset to equity members who will benefit from greater financial and employment security, and to the industry as a whole, as we have ensured that Broadway theatre can continue to grow and prosper.” The three-year agreement provides for annual salary increases of 3.5 percent, according to a summary sent to equity members and published below. It also increases so-called media fees from the current 2 percent (US$41.90 to 54.20 $US) to 2.5 percent of the minimum wage. The following is the second part of a two-part series that follows the basics of the Equity Actors tour as part of the Short Engagement Touring Agreement (SETA). Find the first part on production contracts and their stages in the January 9 edition. Peaks of success: • Annual increase in minimum weekly wages of 3.5% (10.87% over three years). • A new position of “Temporary Assistant Stage Manager”, which is set from 1 pre-pro day until opening, for musicals of a certain size and complexity that cool the production contract. . . .
